The General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program (ASEP) at OSU Institute of Technology is a two-year program leading to an Associate in Applied Science degree. It is designed to prepare graduates for careers as General Motors automotive service technicians. Students will participate in the most up-to-date automotive classroom and laboratory instruction taught by ASE certified instructors. In addition, students alternate 7 1/2 week classroom learning periods with 7 1/2 week internships at sponsoring GM dealerships.

GM-ASEP is NATEF Certified. In the classroom, ASEP students study specific subjects related to the servicing of new GM vehicles as well as general education courses.

While working at a GM dealership, students will have the opportunity to apply newly acquired knowledge in the actual work setting and receive valuable instruction and guidance from the dealership's technicians.

Upon receiving an A.A.S. degree, ASEP graduates will be:

  • Trained on all current GM products and components.
  • Trained in the latest diagnostic and servicing procedures.
  • Trained to "Do It Right" the first time.
  • Employed.
  • Ready to meet the demands of the marketplace and their own career goals.
  • Virtually fully GM certified, which is a valuable credential in addition to the A.A.S. degree.
