Adult Basic Education
Free to the public; Adult Basic Education offers communities and their citizens ages 16 and up, the chance to improve basic academic skills.
These academic skills may be used to:
- Improve employment opportunities
- Complete a General Education Diploma
- Prepare for job training, CareerTech, or College
- Assist parents with skills needed to tutor their children
Every person involved in the program has different reasons for being in class, but all students work toward the similar goal of improving basic academic skills.
ABE offers a goal-based instructional approach which includes:
- Building strengths from weaknesses
- Individual training plans
- Group activities
- Classroom participation
- Real-life application
- Ground-up learning techniques
After enrollment, students set their personal baseline by first assessing their current level of academic abilities. Whether the student requires full instruction or a review, from math to language arts, the student is fully involved in the establishment of the goals and the instruction is tailored to their individual needs.
The class strives to give each individual the skills they need to succeed.
