International Student Admission

The International Affairs office welcomes your interest in enrolling at OSUIT, and is available to help with any questions you might have. The links from this page provide needed forms for admissions application. The Federal Websites page lists several United States government agencies and what they do, and the Estimated Cost of Attendance page offers an estimate of standard expenditures. Please feel free to email questions to the International Affairs office at international.office@okstate.edu.

First-time Application to a U.S. College or University

If you are applying for enrollment as a first-time U.S. college or university student, please be aware that it can take as much as six months (depending on what country you are a citizen of) to complete the new-student application and federal visa process.
Please complete and mail (a) the application packet and (b) tuition waiver form. You do not need to complete the "international transfer" form.

Transferring from Another U.S. College or University

If you are currently attending a U.S. college or university, or have a current (active) visa to attend a U.S. college or university, than you will need to have the DSO of the U.S. college or university that you are registered with complete the "international transfer form", and "transfer" you in SEVIS.
Transferring from one university to another is generally simpler than the initial application and visa process. However, please be aware that this varies depending on the type of visa you have. If you have an "F" visa, the process can be completed in as little as a couple of weeks. If you have a "J" or "M" visa, than you will need to apply to the federal government for a "change of (visa) status"; this approval-process can take several months.

In the U.S. Under a Non-student Visa?

If you are in the U.S. under a non-student visa such as business or vacation/visitor, etc., the federal government requires that you return to your home-country to complete the change to a student-visa, however you may complete the university's application packet while in the U.S. Please email questions to the International Affairs office at international.office@okstate.edu.
