For international students who have been accepted for enrollment by OSUIT and have successfully completed the visa process, the next step is to actually enroll in classes for the next academic term. The process for first-time enrollment is different than that for students who have attended their first term and are ready to re-enroll. Also, there may be questions about the cost of attendance and federal regulations concerning enrollment and attendance. Getting to Know You
Establishing a social circle is very “individual”, but also very important to establishing yourself as a part of a new country or culture.
- Make a personal effort to pair with at least two (2) other students, another international student and a domestic (American) student;
- Interview each other; learn his or her name, country, hobbies, travels, program-of-study, and other interesting personal information (a pen & notepad is helpful).
- Share the same type of information about yourself.
Food Service & Groceries
There are two (2) main food-service locations:
- The Student Union Cafeteria includes a soup and salad bar, hot entrees, fresh vegetables and accompaniments, desserts, a grill for cooked-to-order hamburgers, deli sandwich counter, convenience foods and a wide variety of beverages.
- The State Room restaurant and The Tech Room dining room, located in the Culinary Arts building north of the Student Union, feature a Buffet on Thursdays, prepared by Culinary Arts Students.
The University Market Convenience Store is located in the commons area of the campus residence halls.
- Freshly made sub style sandwiches and wraps, freshly cooked pizza, and freshly made pastries are only a few of the choices available to students and guests.
- In addition, laundry supplies and toiletries are available through the University Market Convenience Store.
Tired of “American” food and want to cook some of your own native foods?
- In the building located just North of your dorm is a fully-equipped student kitchen, with stove, refrigerator, microwave, utensils, and table.
- You will need to bring your own food to prepare, and some personal utensils, however.
- The Dorm’s Resident Assistant can check out the key to you, and explain the rules.
Laundromat (clothes-washing)
- A coin-operated laundry is located in the building just North of your dorms. You will need lots of coins, and your own soap and fabric softener for the clothes washers and dryers.
- This building also houses the students’ public kitchen and a television lounge area, as well as the main offices for the Residential Life staff and Campus Police.
Medical Care
- Students may obtain medical advice without charge from the college physician.
- Students needing hospitalization, x-rays or lab work are referred to the Okmulgee Memorial Hospital and must pay for the services received.
- The college physician can write a pharmacy prescription but the student is responsible for the cost of the prescription.
- The Infirmary is located in the Student Union, and opens at 11:30 a.m. on weekdays when school is in session.
Police & Public Safety
- The Campus Police office is in the same building as the Student Kitchen and Laundromat, just North of your dorm.
- Our officers assure that our students have a safe environment to live and study in.
- If anything happens that makes you feel in danger or at risk of personal safety, do not hesitate to contact the Police Officers on duty or driving the campus.
Campus Bookstore
- The Campus Bookstore is located at the Southwest corner of the Student Union building.
- The bookstore maintains a stock of greeting cards, small gift items and clothing in addition to tools and supplies needed for classes.
- The bookstore is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended hours at the beginning of each semester.
Learning Resources
- The Tutorial Learning Center, located in Room 105 of the Learning Resource Center, features full access to all Library and College Readiness resources.
- Free tutoring in a variety of subjects offered through the College’s Arts and Sciences Division is available to all current and prospective OSU Institute of Technology students.

Counseling Services
- Counseling Services is another part of the Learning Resource Center.
- Services are FREE to all students, faculty, and staff.
- Office hours are from 7:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday, with all counseling kept confidential.
International Student Compliance Issues
