In order to use the wireless, you will need a mobile device with a properly installed, internal or external wireless network adaptor/card that is WEP compatible. Most wireless adaptors/cards that are wi fi compliant should work.

NOTE: Although security is required to be enabled on your device, wireless access is still less secure than a wired network connection. Wireless access is a use at your own risk service. Please be careful not to access personal or sensitive data over the wireless network.

How to Setup up Wireless on Your Computer

Click on the Start menu
Choose Control Panel
Depending on which view you have you will see one of these screens and you want to select Wireless Network Setup Wizard

After clicking Wireless Network Setup Wizard, you will see the following:

Click Next

Step 4

Enter Network Key (obtained by contacting the CIS Help Desk- 293-4700, or your department's main office)
And Choose Manually assign a network key
Then Click Next

Step 5

Enter Network Key (obtained by contacting the helpdesk, or your departments main office)
Then Confirm network key by entering the network key again
Note: You may only see dots on the line as you type-the characters are hidden by default.
Click Next

Step 6

Choose Set up a network manually
Click Next

Step 7

Click Finish

If working where a wired connection is easily available, once you plug in to the network the wireless connection will need to be disabled.
To disable the wireless connection, right-click the wireless icon on your Systray (lower right-hand corner of your desktop screen) and choose Disable (should be the top choice).

Step 8

If a wired connection is not available and you need to re-enable the wireless connection:

  • Go to Start menu
  • Choose Control Panel
  • Choose Network Connections or Network and Internet Connections (depending on you view)
  • Right-click on Wireless Network Connection and select Enable
