Community Assistant
The Community Assistant is responsible for assisting the Residence Coordinators in developing, coordinating, and maintaining a program within the hall which strives to provide a positive intellectual, emotional, and social living environment for students. A Community Assistant is someone with at least one semester’s residence in a residence hall at OSU Institute of Technology. The Community Assistant is selected on the basis of a display of, sensitivity to, and interest in people; objectivity and respect for the worth and dignity of the individual; open mindedness on issues; degree of empathy; the ability to handle autonomy and make decisions; and his/her success within the academic community. A Community Assistant is, always, a role model.
The main responsibility of the Community Assistant is to provide support, encouragement and leadership to his/her community. He/She should be available to his/her residents and empower them to grow and develop as good citizens. Community Assistants help to establish a positive living/learning environment. This is accomplished by the following:

Community Assistants must be full-time students with a cumulative and semester GPA of 2.0 or higher. Community Assistants are also required to live on the floor for which he/she is responsible.
Along with the hourly wage each Community Assistant is paid, there will be a $600 stipend per semester that will be paid in three (3) $200 installments; this stipend is for the following: on-call weekends, check-in, check-out, close down, reopening, and programming.
