A regular health and exercise routine will help you look and feel better, as well as relieve stress and help you become more productive on the job and in the classroom. The three components of a well-rounded workout routine include cardio, strength and flexibility. Student Life offers exercise classes to help you meet your goals through the instruction, encouragement and camaraderie of a disciplined class environment. SPIN Class provides the cardio and Pilates is especially designed for strength and flexibility.
Fitness Pilates - Fitness Mind/Body, PIYO

We'll integrate body and mind through yoga poses for total performance with focus on strength, conditioning and flexibility. Improve overall integrated function by increasing flexibility, stabilization, balance, and core strength.

Form and technique are the primary focus, but be prepared to shake things up, too! Improve endurance, strength, and cardiovascular system, gain muscle tone and burn more calories to raise basil metabolic rate (rate at which you burn calories). Improve cardiovascular endurance, and burn, burn, burn fat, sugar, and calories!
Pilates Mat Workout
What is it? The Pilates method of exercise is a mind-body discipline that combines stretching and strengthening exercises designed to work the body as a whole, focusing on the abdominal, lower back and gluteus muscles. Joseph Pilates claimed, "In ten sessions, you will feel the difference. In twenty, you will see the difference, and in thirty, you'll have a whole new body." As program participants adopt new habits for strengthening the body's core and become more mindful of their movements, the body will eventually adopt new, more efficient ways of sitting, standing and performing activities. With proper postural alignment and strength, the spine will actually expand and elongate, and the abdominal and gluteus muscles will tone and firm. Pilates has no gender or age barriers. It is imperative that you not miss the first few classes. Important information will be provided to ensure your success and safety.
What to bring? Comfortable, loose workout pants, shirt and socks.
Spin Class
What is it? SPIN is a group cycling class that is THE best cardio wellness class currently available in Covelle Hall. Participants burn 300-500 calories during a 40-minute, full-throttle workout, so it also is the best option for losing those unwanted pounds. There is no competition in the Spinning program. Go at the pace that feels right for you. For the first eight sessions, or so, you may experience some slight discomfort as your bottom adjusts to the seat. SPIN takes a commitment of about two months (four classes each week) to be comfortable doing the entire routine. With regular SPIN classes and a well-balanced diet, you are well on your way to a healthier heart and a thinner, more toned physique. People who ride bikes three or four times per week are 41 percent less likely to die from heart disease and 58 percent less likely to develop diabetes.
What to bring? Comfortable workout clothes that wick sweat away from the body, clean athletic shoes, and a bottle of water.
