OSUIT Celebrates 320 New Graduates Poised to Strengthen Oklahoma's Workforce

OSU Institute of Technology celebrated its 227th graduating class in a ceremony held at Covelle Hall on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 5 p.m.

The spring commencement featured 320 graduates, honoring the culmination of their academic journey at OSUIT, ready to enter the workforce and make their mark in their respective fields.

Speakers took the stage to impart wisdom and inspiration to the graduating class. Kyle Wray, the Senior Vice President of System affairs under OSU President Kayse Shrum, served as keynote speaker. Wray's Oklahoma roots of resilience and hard work have made him a tireless supporter of OSU Polytech's initiative to drive economic development and train graduates to enter the workforce.

"OSUIT is the undisputed leader in applied technical education in Oklahoma, and our students are highly sought after by employers," stated Wray. "We'll be sharing OSUIT's expertise statewide as we build out OSU Polytech, which we announced in December. OSUIT is the crown jewel in our efforts, and everyone here will play a critical role as we work to develop Oklahoma's science and high-tech workforce."

In his keynote address, Wray expressed his admiration for the graduating class and highlighted the impact they will make on their communities, employers, and families. Drawing inspiration from the iconic musical "Oklahoma!", Wray emphasized the state's ongoing evolution and the crucial role of OSUIT in preparing tomorrow's workforce.

He urged graduates to embrace the values of problem-solving, collaboration, and perseverance as they embark on their professional journeys.

"Wherever you go from here, I know you will make an impact. Always remember that graduating from OSUIT represents your willingness to work hard and take on challenges. More than ever, our state needs your passion, your work ethic, your tenacity and your courage. I am proud of each of you and your accomplishments," said Wray.

Following Wray on the podium was Tristan Stuard, a native of Newcastle, Oklahoma, who served as the student speaker for the ceremony. Graduating Summa Cum Laude from the School of Creative & Information Technologies with his Associate of Applied Science in Information Technologies, Stuard showcases strong leadership skills and a commitment to community service.

Stuard thanked his family, mentors, and instructors for their support throughout his academic journey. Reflecting on his transformative experience at OSUIT, Stuard shared personal stories and lessons learned.
